Volunteers Volunteers

We need volunteers to help with the following:

  • Letter Writing
Volunteers work with older children to assist them in writing letters to their incarcerated parents. This is usually done in a small group setting.
  • Field Trips
Volunteers chaperone children on field trips to local activities.
  • Mentoring
One on one contact with a child to provide an adult role model.

Become a Volunteer

  • Who can become a volunteer
Any adult over 21 years of age who has no criminal record can apply to be a volunteer.
  • How to apply
Call our toll free number, 1 - 888 - 757-KIDZ (5439), and select the Care Coordination Center close to you. Once connected, ask for the Children of Inmates Care Coordinator and say you want to volunteer.
  • What comes next
You will complete an application and an interview for the position. If selected, we will conduct a background check required of all our employees and volunteers who work with children.
  • Training
All our volunteers receive training about our program, about working with children of inmates, and about the specific jobs they will perform.
