  • More Organizations Joining to Help Children of the Incarcerated

It’s good to know that more and more organizations across the U.S. and the rest of the world are reaching out to help children of prisoners.

Here is a spotlight on one of them: Project AVARY.

The agency describes itself this way: Established in 1999 in San Rafael, CA, Project AVARY works to break the inter-generational cycle of violence and incarceration - one child at a time. More than 150 children participate year-round in AVARY programming, including monthly activities and a free summer camp.

In California alone, more than 800,000 children have a parent in prison, jail or on parole.
